New details have emerged debunking the earlier report that there will be three variants of the device: Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+. Unlike previous reports about a 128GB Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge+, Samsung may be releasing 32GB & 64GB variants of the S6 and S6 Edge only.

Both devices will pack microSD card slots and batteries larger than the older Samsung Galaxy S6. The specifications sheet posted earlier today on Weibo revealed more:

Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to sport a 5.1 Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440×2560 while Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is going to have the same resolution on a 5.5″ curved screen. While the S7 sports a 3,000mAh battery, the bigger S7 Edge will come with a higher capacity 3,600mAh battery.

The US and China versions are reported to be powered Snapdragon 820 SoC but devices sold to other parts of the world will have Exynos 8890 chipset. Both variants will be powered by a 4GB RAM and there’s a 12MP rear camera.

The camera looks like a downgrade considering Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 16MP camera but it seems the 12MP camera will be a lot better than the one on the S6. The f/1.7 aperture is wider and this lets more light pass through the lens when taking pictures. This should result in better looking images and superb low-light photography.

Samsung might reveal the devices before Mobile World Congress 2016 starts. The speculated launch date is February 21st. Concerning the pricing, everyone is still in the dark.
