Two More Android Phones Expected From Blackberry This Year
Blackberry Priv was a hit and the company is till riding in its glory. We mentioned last year that Blackberry might consider releasing a cheaper alternative to Blackberry Priv as revealed by an interview with Black CEO, John Chen. According to CNet, there’s yet another affirmation to this as explained by the company’s CEO at the on-going Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
2016 might be a tough year for die-hard Blackberry 10 OS fans as the company prepares to go fully Android. The Priv has been a success and Blackberry wants to continue going in that direction. After a 60-day exclusive deal with AT & T, Blackberry Priv will be coming to other network providers like Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint.
The choice to go with Android OS has been a pretty profitable one. Inan earlier report, Blackberry has been said to depend on the Priv for survival in the mobile market. The device is the all-deciding factor to know whether the company will remain in business or not.
“So far, so good,” said John Chen referring to the Priv Sales. He added, “I’m taking a cautiously optimistic view.”
For now, Blackberry Priv costs $699 and the company plans to sell it in 31 countries over the course of the year. The company’s target is selling 5 million units of the device and John Chen has already hinted that the price might come down as time goes on.
Talking about Blackberry 10, the company plans on getting national security certificate for the operating system so as enable its use by the government and corporate bodies.
