How to Control Volume If Volume Keys of Your Android are Broken
Smartphones, no matter how awesome they are, carry the risk of getting damaged. Drop it accidentally from your pocket and you may have to buy a new one. Even if you keep it with care it is possible that it might get damaged. One of the most common problem faced by smartphone users is that the hardware buttons stop working and they don’t know the reason for it.
Earlier, I shared what to do if the power button in your smartphone stops working, in this article I’ll tell you how to gain control of your smartphone’s volume in case its volume buttons stop working because when it comes to Android there is hardly any part that cannot be tweaked and made better.
To gain the power of volume buttons we will be using an app called Volume ChopCUT. So, what this app does is that it takes the functionality of your broken volume buttons and transfers it on the screen. Take it like this – earlier we had hardware buttons for home, back, and recent apps but now all the functions of those hardware buttons have been put on the screen.
VolumeChopCUT is very simple to set up, you just have to select the right settings after installing it.
1. Basic Notification: This option is very lightweight as it adds a single persistent notification in the notification panel and you can assign one function (media volume/alarm volume/ call volume/ ringer volume) to it. Multiple functions can also be assigned but only a single row will be used in basic notification option.
2. Extended Notification: This option also adds a persistent notification in the notification panel but it provides an extended control as compared to the basic notification. To make the whole process easy it adds built-in up and down buttons tocontrol volume.
3. Floating Widget: As the name suggests, this option adds a widget that floats on the screen and can be dragged anywhere. This widget draws over other apps so it will always stay on top of every other app. It has a number of icons to choose from for the widget. Icon size and transparency is customizable. Tapping on the widget gives access to volume controls for media, alarm, ringer, and call.
4. Floating Equalizer: It is an experimental feature that gives you access to equalizers via floating button.
Other than all the options mentioned above you can also integrate VolumeChopCUT with Google Now and you will be able to control the volume through voice commands. To do so you will have to give it access to accessibility settings.
