Things became even more interesting ever since Antutu went cross-platform and devices across major ecosystems became comparable in terms of speed. A list was released last year showing the iPhone 6s Plus beating every Android phone to steal the number one spot as the fastest smartphone in the world.
Xiaomi Mi 5 is now the world’s fastest smartphone
Thanks to Samsung and Xiaomi, Apple has lost that position and it’s now relegated to the third position. The new list by Antutu now has Xiaomi’s power house sitting at the top and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has the second position.
It’s worth mentioning that these two devices are only a tad faster that Apple’s most recent device — Xioami Mi 5 scores 136865 points to take the first position, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has 234559 points in the second place and Apple iPhone 6S has 133781 points to stay in the third position.
Since Xiaomi Mi 5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge are powered by the same processor, there’s a possibility that the 5-inch Xiaomi flagship is able to hit the first position due to its smaller screen and smaller 1080p resolution. Samsung Galaxy has a larger screen and many more pixels (2K resolution) to process.
Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 on these devices which may be the fastest processor in the world right now, Huawei Mate 8 only manages 91157 points to have the fourth position.
No one knows what Apple is up to right now but it’s almost certain that the upcoming iPhone 7 will sport a new A10 processor. This will most certain upset this list.
