Danger Alert!!! Android Virus Called QuadRooter, See How To Check If Its Already in Your Phone

Android device in recent times, have been under attack by android device virus. Recently i published a post about my quest with android device virus click link for more details, and another android device virus was reported earlier called goddess.

Another Android security flaw has been discovered by researchers at security Check Point. Check point stated that, the flaw is fundamentally a set of four vulnerabilities that has already affected over 900 million smartphones and tablets all over the world running Google's Android OS.


This new security issue affects Android devices powered by Qualcomm chipsets and it is called QuadRooter. 

According to check point, some of the latest android like the once below use this chipset,
  • BlackBerry Priv
  • Blackphone 1 and Blackphone 2
  • Google Nexus 5X, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P
  • HTC One, HTC M9 and HTC 10
  • LG G4, LG G5, and LG V10
  • New Moto X by Motorola
  • OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3
  • Sony Xperia Z Ultra
  • Including Samsung's latest Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung S7 Edge and BlackBerry DTEK50, which blackberry said is "the world's most secure Android smartphone."

What is QuadRooter?

According to check point:
QuadRooter is a set of four vulnerabilities affecting Android devices built using Qualcomm chipsets. Qualcomm is the world’s leading designer of LTE chipsets with a 65% share of the LTE modem baseband market. If any one of the four vulnerabilities is exploited, an attacker can trigger privilege escalations for the purpose of gaining root access to a device.

How To Check If QuadRooter is Already in Your Android Phone

Check Point did not just announce the out break of this android phone virus, but they also introduced a free QuadRooter Scanner app, you can get this app on Google Play. If your android device is running on Qualcomm chipset, you need to download this application to scan and analyse your android device if the flaws exit or not.

How To Prevent This QuadRooter Android Phone Virus:

  • Make Sure Your android device operation system (OS) is up to date, download and install the latest Android updates as soon as they are available.
  • Avoid side-loading Android apps (.APK files) or downloading android application from unknown source. I recommend you download your android phone application from google plastore.
  • Read permission requests carefully when installing any apps. Be wary of apps that ask for permissions that seem unusual or unnecessary or that use large amounts of data or battery life.
