Your Next Android Smartphone Must Have These Things
2017 is about to end and the holiday season is upon us. It’s that time of the year when you’ll be buying and receiving gifts from your friends and family. And, what’s a better gift than an awesome smartphone? If you are planning to gift someone a smartphone or just want one for yourself, then you’ve come to the right place. In this article, I’ll tell you about the features and things your next Android phone must have when you purchase them
Let’s talk about the core features first. If the one you have your eye on doesn’t have these things, you probably should look for another.
Number one is a powerful processor. Your next phone must have a powerful processor if you are planning to use it for at least 2 years. Preferably one from the flagships series of Qualcomm. Phones tend to slow down with regular usage. That’s why having a powerful processor will help your device run smoothly for a longer period of time. Plus, the flagship processors have better battery life and performance as compared to they’re lower counterparts.
Next, your new phone must have at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. 4 GB of RAM is the new standard in the mobile industry. I, too, think that it’s an appropriate amount of RAM to have a smooth performance. Anything less than that and you may face problems in the long run. And, frankly, anything more than that is just a marketing gimmick.
Now, the storage. 64 GB of storage is fitting if you plan to use your phone for a long time. You can also go for a phone with 32 GB of internal storage as long as it comes with SD Card support.
Next “must-have” feature is a fingerprint sensor. Biometrics has already found its place in smartphones and it will only improve from here on. A fingerprint sensor makes unlocking your smartphone faster and easier. When used with apps like LastPass, it could strengthen your security.
The “Should-Haves”
These are the features that your next phone should have. It’s not essential for your phone to have these, but it would be great if it did.
First one is a QHD display. Yes, it’s not necessary to have a QHD display. It’s totally fine to have an FHD display. They look great and are good for battery life. And, naked eyes can’t really tell the difference between FHD & QHD if you don’t compare them side-by-side.
Next, NFC. Lack of NFC shouldn’t be a deal-breaker. I know that usage of NFC is picking up lately, especially for wireless payments, but I don’t see it being something that you’ll use daily in the coming years.
Now, your next phone should have a USB C port, 3000 mAh+ battery, a headphone jack, a Corning Gorilla glass, a good camera and IP67 or IP68 rating. Why? Because these features are useful to have and would improve your overall experience. But, this doesn’t mean you won’t like your phone if they lack these features.
At the time of writing this, I can’t think of anything else to be included in the above-mentioned list. Sure, you get more if you spend more. There are other cool stuff like glass body, wireless charging, etc. But, I see them as gimmicks and don’t think they’ll make much of a difference.
