Meet Nokia 8.3 5G First Nokia 5G Smartphone by HMD

HMD Global released a number of new Nokia phones, and one of them was their first 5G phone, the Nokia 8.3 5G. In addition, they also released middle and lower class mobile phones, namely Nokia 5.3, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5310 feature phones.

Compared to other manufacturers, HMD is somewhat slower in releasing 5G phones. The reason is that HMD claims to wait for wider 5G frequency support before releasing its 5G phone so that their 5G phone can operate in more countries.

Nokia 8.3 5G Features

For this reason, HMD claims that the Nokia 8.3 is the first mobile phone that can be called a global 5G phone.

In addition to 5G connectivity, HMD also champions the capabilities of the Nokia 8.3 camera, which has four rear cameras. Namely the 64-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, 2-megapixel macro camera, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. While the front camera uses a 24-megapixel sensor.

HMD promises that this row of cameras, especially its ultrawide cameras, is focused on video capabilities. One of them is recording 4K video, and specifically for ultrawide cameras, it can record movies in 21: 9 format. There are also algorithms that according to HMD can produce anamorphic cinematic effects that are usually produced from special video lenses.

Not only that, Nokia 8.3 can record video in log format, equivalent to taking pictures in RAW format. By using this format, users will be freer to do video processing, such as applying their own colour profile.

Nokia 8.3 is a smartphone with a 6.81 inch screen, Snapdragon 765G processor, and 4,500mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor on the power button. Available variants are 6GB / 64GB and 8GB / 128GB RAM storage.

The Nokia 8.3 5G launched in March 2020 (Expected release 2020, Q2); it is available in colour Polar Night. Nokia 8.3 5G (6GB/64GB) is priced at 599 euros (approx. ₦236,000 in Nigeria) while the 8GB/128GB variant is priced at 649 euros (around ₦256,000 in Nigeria).
