BitTorrent is Now entirely legal, BitTorrent can finally launch true apps for iOS and tvOS, something that it hasn’t been able to do in the past.
With BitTorrent Now, fans can find films from artists they love on their iPhone during their commute and then favorite to stream later on the couch in front of their Apple TV. They’ll also have the ability to follow artists they love, create playlists, and see what’s trending on social or in the BitTorrent community.
BitTorrent Now uses BitTorrent’s now Bundle format, which basically means that users can be required to do something, like sign-in or pay, before viewing the content. Bundles allow creators to have greater control over their content, where it is shared, and who sees it, something that hasn’t necessarily been true of BitTorrent in the past.
What’s interesting is that BitTorrent Now isn’t using any peer-to-peer technology like torrents do. All content is being streamed directly from BitTorrent’s servers to the end-user.
BitTorrent Now is available now on the App Store for iOS and tvOS.
