MusicTime the MTN New Music Streaming Platform

MTN Nigeria has launched a new music-streaming platform called MusicTime! This is likely to compete with Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Shazam, and particularly Boomplay, which is already well known across Africa.

MusicTime! was developed in partnership with Simfy Africa and offers access to Nigerian and African music across the world.

With MusicTime!, customers can stream music even if they have no data on their phone. It has no subscription cost and all that is paid for is the time spent listening to music on the platform.

The interface is easy to use and search playlists and trending music, share a personal playlist with friends and even pause the music to return to it later.

Note that this is far different from MTN Music+ which was launched in Nigeria 2014. Music+ came with tons of features including callertunez integration, cloud storage for a personal music library, and the ability to gift songs to friends.

Music+ allows users to stream music for as long as they want in contrast to MusicTime! that only lets users enjoy music for 30 seconds before playing the next song.

Another notable difference between Music+ and Music Time is that the former allows users to stream local music from the web while MusicTime doesn’t permit that.
