ZTE Acquires Nubia.com For A Whooping $2 Million
Nubia is a sub-brand of ZTE and the company has reportedly spent a whopping $2 million USD to buy the domain name. ZTE already owns nubia.cn and nubia.com.cn but this move has been seen by many as a way the Chinese brand is trying to use to market itself in the US and Europe.ZTE Nubia phones are quite high-end devices but most of them are only available locally in China with a few models entering the international market with with the purchase of this TLD, ZTE may be looking forward to expand globally in the coming year.
First seen on Weibo and reported by GizmoChina, the company spending as much as $2 million USD is a business move and can only mean they’re trying to break into other markets.
The Nubia line of phones include the Nubia Z9 which has absolutely no bezels. It’s one of the company’s most impressive devices so far.
There’s another upcoming ZTE Nubia 11 that has some pretty high-end specifications which include a 1440 x 2560 resolution and a 5.2 inch screen. It’s rumored to feature a Snapdragon 820 SoC with the Adreno 530 GPU. Like the Nubia Z9, it’s also going to have no bezel.
The device will be launched simultaneously in the US and China.
