Meet Onda Obook 11, The Chinese Microsoft Surface Book Clone

This isn’t the first clone out of China and it certainly will not be the last. Lookalikes of popular products will always be in the market and globally, China is recognized for this notoriety. Announced just October last year, Microsoft Surface Book now has a lookalike in China. Onda Obook 11 may look like the real Surface Book, but that’s where it ends.



The technical specifications are no where close to what’s available on the Microsoft device but of course, it’s a cheaper alternative. Those who love the Surface Book but couldn’t afford it might find consolation in Obook 11.




Microsoft called the Surface Book “the ultimate laptop” and this is true, the top-notch hardware and great design would make anyone desire it but it doesn’t come cheap. The highest configuration is about $3,000. If you’re willing to trade in the expensive Surface Book, for a cheaper clone that even uses the signature fulcrum hinge on the original, you get a 4GB RAM, 64 GB storage, an Intel Core M-6Y30 processor which is upgradable to Atom X5-8300,. The screen is either 10.1″ or 11.0″ depending on configuration.

If you want more power, Onda Obook 12 has a larger 12.2-inch display and it’s powered by an Atom X7-8700 processor. It comes with 1920 x 1200 px resolution.

The devices feature USB 3.0 ports and the keyboard is detachable. Just like the Surface Book, it also offers stylus support.

The real Microsoft Surface Book has a 13.5-inch display with a resolution of 3000 X 2000 px. You either get 8GB or 16GB depending on desired configuration. It is powered by Intel Cor i5 / i7 processor with nVidia GPU.

Obook is going to be a lot cheaper but at the time of this report, the price is still unknown.
